Thyroid Support

Thyroid problems can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, unexplained weight changes, and alterations in heart rate, skin, and hair. As we age, the thyroid gland undergoes changes, including a decline in thyroid hormone levels and an increased risk of thyroid disorders.
Changes in thyroid hormone levels:

  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): TSH levels tend to increase with age, especially in individuals without overt thyroid disease. However, some studies suggest that TSH levels may also decrease with age.
  • Free Triiodothyronine (FT3): FT3 levels typically decrease as we get older.

Symptoms of thyroid disorders in older adults:

  • Muscle and joint aches: Hypothyroidism can lead to muscle weakness, stiffness, and pain, making movement more difficult.
  • Bowel changes: Constipation is a common symptom of hypothyroidism.
  • Psychiatric issues: Hypothyroidism may cause depression and, in severe cases, psychosis.
  • Cognitive decline: Hypothyroidism can result in cognitive impairment, which may be mistaken for dementia.

If you suspect thyroid issues, especially if you're struggling with fat loss, it’s important to request thyroid testing. Proper thyroid function is crucial for effective fat loss, and imbalances can make the process significantly more difficult.
